Over the years Disco In Kernow has grown in size from being a one man band to a team of dedicated staff. We have 2 contrasting stage set ups, a range of special effects, and an outdoor mobile event trailer.

All of our equipment is PAT tested and maintained in-house. All members of staff have enhanced DBS checks and we hold full Public Liability Insurance

I am the driving force and architect of Disco In Kernow. My musical career started in the Midlands with a desperation gift of a guitar from my parents at the age of 8. From that time on I have always been involved in the music industry.

I formed my first band with school mates, going on to form Kontraflow in 1986 and playing in clubs and pubs in the Black Country and beyond. The original members still meet every year for a reunion and a good old jam session, and we remain the best of friends to this day.

Whilst working behind a bar in 1988 I approached the resident DJ, saying I always wanted to try this. I was amazed when he said he had a gig the following evening but was now unable to fulfil, and would I be interested in borrowing his gear and doing the gig. 

I grabbed the offer, and despite having no instruction in how to use the equipment, this became the start of my many years in the disco business.

Having relocated to Cornwall in 2003, and my daughter approaching 3 years old, I dusted off the decks for a once only disco for her birthday party. My spark was reignited and Disco In Kernow was born. With a vison of 18 discos a year, this was quickly surpassed and Disco in Kernow has become a firm favourite in the South West.

I have entertained parties of all descriptions, including christenings, weddings, birthdays, celebrations of life and even a divorce party. Some of my highlights have been discos in stately homes, castles and outdoors, with the Eden Project being one of the most memorable. I have had the privilege of providing entertainment for Greek, Indian, Jamaican and African weddings. I love to research musical cultures and pride myself with being versatile.

I class myself as not only a Disc Jockey but also a Presenter and a Master of Ceremonies. I am adept at involving the audience in the entertainment and I am only satisfied when the party guests are fully engaged and immersed in the event.

I’m proud to say I am also a bit of a technical expert, building and maintaining many pieces of the disco equipment.

I am approachable and open to all ideas. I will do my level best to ensure your party goes with a bang, and to ensure your event is personal to you.

Due to my time spent in the music industry I have many contacts, and if specific equipment is required I will be able to draw on this to source exactly what you want. Nothing is too much trouble!
